Veteran Dale Eagle broke one of professional bowling's longest victory droughts as he won his second PBA victory in nine years by toppling defending champion Art Trask in the championship game of the $125,000 Fair Lanes Open. Eagle, formerly known as Dale Glenn, qualified second and waited until Dennis Jacques disposed of Bob Handley, 219-185, and Steve Wunderlich, 191-158. Jacques then ran out of strikes, losing to the eventual champion, 199-155. Eagle stayed out of trouble in the title match and closed with five strikes on his last six balls to clinch the match, 232-199. His one other PBA title came in Detroit in 1975.
