One can forgive Rickie Sajek if he has developed a love affair with the Miller Brewing Company. Already in 1984 he finished fourth in their Miller High Life Classic at Miami and captured the Meister Brau (Miller-owned) Open at Cleveland. In Milwaukee he became the first double winner for the season in the $150,000 Miller Open. Sajek's victim in the championship game was leading qualifier Ted Hannahs in a 224-219 thriller. Sajek had earned the right to meet Hannahs by eliminating Mark Roth, who had captured the $200,000 BPAA U.S. Open the previous week. As well as winning two titles, Sajek, in his first full year on tour, had placed in the money in every tour stop in 1984.
