Gary Skidmore buried four opponents amidst an onslaught of strikes to win the $125,000 King Louie Open. Thwarted twice previously this winter from the top-seeded position, Skidmore first disposed of the previous week's champ, Bob Chamberlain, 238-206. He then rolled over burly Mark Fahy, 223-201, before starting the semifinal match with a nine-bagger to overpower Steve Cook, 276-235. In the championship match, Roth, a three-time King Louie winner in the 1970s, could only muster two strikes while Skidmore put together a seven-bagger en route to a 242-188 final score for his third PBA victory.
