Miller Grinds Quaker State Foes-Again

Hugh Miller continued his mastery over opponents on television and captured the $125,000 Quaker State Open for the second time in four years.

Miller, 27, topped Joe Berardi, 217-171, with a key three-bagger beginning in the fifth frame. It was his sixth consecutive win in championship round competition without a loss, enabling the lefthander to snare the $20,000 top prize for his fourth PBA title.

In the opening game, local newcomer Del Ballard Jr., topped Bob Handley, 178-156. In the next game, Berardi toppled Ballard, 202-177, before coming from behind to defeat Mark Roth in a hard-fought, 204-190, contest at Forum Bowling Lanes.
