Pappas Posts Showboat

George Pappas earned the top qualifying position and never looked back, crushing Gil Sliker, 236-172, for his ninth PBA crown and the $33,000 top prize In the Showboat Invitational.

Mike Edwards was impressive in his first TV appearance as he disposed of Joe Berardi, 234-216. Edwards then topped Wayne Webb, appearing In his fourth consecutive championship round, 213-190, before falling to Sliker, 223-217.
