Long Island Open

$110,000 LONG ISLAND OPEN
Garden City Bowl, Garden City, N.Y., Apr 19-23, 1983

Genalo Dons 2nd Crown

Don Genalo, a hometown favorite from nearby North Merrick, N.Y., joined Earl Anthony and Tom Milton as the only double winners on the Winter Tour when he captured the $110,000 Long Island Open and Its $15,000 first prize.

Genalo held off a valiant effort by Roger Haskell in the title game, winning, 215-189, after Haskell had defeated three opponents in an effort to win his first PBA Tour victory.

Haskell first disposed of Dale Eagle, 225-156, then veteran Ernie Schlegel, 212-159, and finally Gary Shultis, 266245, in a high-scoring thriller at Genalo's "home lanes," Garden City Bowl.
