Art Trask, apparently making up for lost time, captured his third PBA title in his last 11 tournaments by coming from fifth place to win the $100,000 Cleveland Open. The veteran Trask, winless on the tour until 1982, had an uphill climb after edging Earl Anthony by five pins to qualify in the last spot for the stepladder championship round. He then outscored newcomers Don Genalo and Kenny Hall, as well as lefthander Steve Westberg, to earn the right to challenge No. 1 Marshall Holman. Trask defeated Holman, 216-200, in a hard-fought contest to bring his TV finals record for the year to 8-0 with a 230 average.
