The third-seeded Durbin ruled the championship round starting with a 248-182 route against Kevin Gillette in what proved to be the closest match. Joe Hutchinson was Durbin's next victim, failing 266-182, and Earl Anthony was dealt the most overwhelming defeat, 277-165, in the title game. Durbin tossed strikes on 81 percent of his shots in claiming his eighth PBA championship and the $21,000 first prize. Anthony, coming off a victory in the PBA National Championship and attempting to win for the fourth time in five weeks, earned $11,000.
