Hugh Miller completed a "Texas Sweep" when he downed Steve Cook, 222-204, to win the $75,000 Amarillo Open. A tour sophomore from Mercer Island, Wash., Miller previously had won the Quaker State Open in Grand Prairie, Texas, the only other PBA national tournament scheduled in the Lone Star State in 1980. Miller and Cook, both southpaws, were tied after four frames of the championship match before top-seeded Miller-put together four straight strikes and clinched the $8,000 crown with spares in the final two frames. To gain the top spot going into the finals, Miller, 23, had twice outscored Cook in match play, beating him, 299-242 and 256-236.
