Animated Joe Hutchinson became the weekly TV star of the bowling world in the AMF MagicScore Open when, with the help of an ample supply of body English, gestures and a constant stream of chatter, he out-bowled three opponents for the $20,000 victory. In the first national PBA event ever hosted in Peoria, Ill., Hutchinson rolled 735 for three games, clinching his second title with a 247-224 win over match play leader Bill Coleman. The ABC-TV finals attracted the largest audience in the 19-year history of the highly rated Pro Bowlers Tour series. Veteran stars Jim Godman, Tommy Hudson and Nelson Burton Jr., filled out the top five at Landmark Lanes.
