Webb Wins Showboat Strikefest

Wayne Webb hit for strikes on 7485 of his TV finals shots as he averaged 260 for three games to win the $21,000 first prize in the $135,000 Showboat Invitational, the oldest stop on the PBA tour.

Webb, a 22-year-old right-hander, bowled games of 235, 267 and 278, defeating top-seeded Mark Roth in the championship game after Roth had aced the 408-man field with a 237 average for 56 games.
