Rolaids Open

$100,000 ROLAIDS OPEN
Dick Weber Lanes, Florissant, Mo., Feb 8-10, 1979

Roth Gets Revenge

Starting with nine strikes in the final game, Mark Roth avenged his loss two weeks earlier in the Quaker State Open to Marshall Holman by ripping Holman, 279-227, for his first title of the year in the Rolaids Open.

Roth, who won the Rolaids title at Dick Weber Lanes in 1976, could not hold back top-seeded Holman in match play, but earned another shot at him by disposing of Dan Roche, 247-166, in the semi-final game.

Roth's bid for a 300 game in the championship match was stopped by a 6-pin on a high hit in the 10th frame. It was Roth's 17th PBA title, worth $15,000.
