Randy Lightfoot shot a three-game score of 712 on national television to win the $30,000 check for his victory in the $150,000 Burger King Open at Don Carter's plush Kendall Lanes. The winner's share equaled the largest prize offered on the PBA Tour in 1978. It wasn't easy for Lightfoot, a 20-year-old from St. Charles, Mo. He knocked off Marshall Holman, 242-188, Mark Roth, 224-204, and top-seeded Larry Laub, 246-202.
