Veteran Dave Davis gave himself a $5,000 wedding present when he captured the $42,500 AMF Regional Champions Classic, opening event on the Professional Bowlers Association Fall Tour. It was the first victory for the gangling lefthander in two years. Davis, Hackensack, N.J., finished with a 117-pin margin over second-place Mark Roth, Staten Island, N.Y., while Ed DiTolla, Maywood, N.J., was another 111 pins back in third place. "I didn't bowl that well and I made a lot of bad shots," Davis said after winning his 16th career title. "I suppose I was lucky. I haven't felt like bowling for some reason, but now I have to bowl well . . . I have a wife to support." 42-GAME TOTALS | | | Name, City/State | | Pins | | WLT | | + | | Tot | | Amt | | | 1 | | Dave Davis, Hackensack, N.J. | | 9065 | | 17-7-0 | | 510 | | 9575 | | $5,000 | | 2 | | Mark Roth, Staten Island, N.Y. | | 9038 | | 14-10-0 | | 420 | | 9458 | | 3,000 | | 3 | | Ed DiTolla, Maywood, N.J. | | 8882 | | 14-7-3 | | 465 | | 9347 | | 2,600 | | 4 | | Gary Patterson, St. Louis | | 8890 | | 14-9-1 | | 435 | | 9325 | | 2,300 | | 5 | | Jim Hills, Blue Springs, Mo. | | 9022 | | 10-14-0 | | 300 | | 9322 | | 2,100 | | 6 | | Ernie Schlegel, U.S.A. | | 8841 | | 14-10-0 | | 420 | | 9261 | | 1,900 | | 7 | | Allie Clarke, Ravenna, Ohio | | 8943 | | 10-13-1 | | 315 | | 9258 | | 1,700 | | 8 | | George Pappas, Charlotte, N.C. | | 8945 | | 10=14-0 | | 300 | | 9245 | | 1,500 | | 9 | | Teata Semiz, River Edge, N.J. | | 8772 | | 15-9-0 | | 450 | | 9222 | | 1,400 | | 10 | | Mike Berlin, Muscatine, Iowa | | 8860 | | 11-12-1 | | 345 | | 9205 | | 1,300 | | 11 | | Dick Weber, St. Louis | | 8899 | | 10-14-0 | | 300 | | 9199 | | 1,200 | | 12 | | Bus Oswalt, Muncie, Ind. | | 8821 | | 12-12-0 | | 360 | | 9181 | | 1,100 | | 13 | | Bob Goike,.
