Snapping a victory drought that extended for seven months and 20 tournaments, Earl Anthony cruised to victory in the $60,000 Waukegan Open for the third straight year. Winner of the Winter Tour-opening Lite Classic, the lefthanded Anthony enjoyed a margin of 229 pins at the end over second-year pro Steve Westberg. Anthony also averaged over 224, almost six pins better than his closest pursuer, in winning the $6,000 first prize. In taking his 28th career title, Anthony won a tournament three years in a row for the second time in his brilliant career. He is the only professional to ever win three straight, having also accomplished the feat in the PBA National Championship from 1973-75. Dick Armstrong and Rich Wonders, a pair of non-members, finished third and fourth, respectively, while Paul Moser was fifth. 42-GAME TOTALS | | | Name, City/State | | Pins | | WLT | | + | | Tot | | Amt | | | 1 | | Earl Anthony, Tacoma, Wash. | | 9415 | | 18-6-0 | | 540 | | 9955 | | $6,000 | | 2 | | Steve Westberg, Cottage Grove, Ore. | | 9171 | | 18-5-1 | | 555 | | 9726 | | 3,500 | | @3 | | Dick Armstrong, Park City, Ill. | | 9085 | | 18-6-0 | | 540 | | 9625 | | 3,000 | | @4 | | Rich Wonders, Racine, Wis. | | 8969 | | 17-6-1 | | 525 | | 9494 | | 2,500 | | 5 | | Paul Moser, Medford, Mass. | | 9033 | | 15-9-0 | | 450 | | 9483 | | 2,000 | | @6 | | Gary Strand, Madison, Wis. | | 8943 | | 14-10-0 | | 420 | | 9363 | | 1,800 | | 7 | | Fred Jaskie, Greendale, Wis. | | 8807 | | 12-12-0 | | 360 | | 9247 | | 1,600 | | 8 | | Sam Flanagan, Parkersburg, W.
