Roth Strikes It Rich

An injury-plagues Mark Roth toppled bowling greats Dick Weber and Earl Anthony to win the $100,000 Showboat Invitational.

In the title game at Showboat Lanes, Roth upset the top-seeded Anthony, 2237-211, after hanging a 227-203 defeat on Weber.

Roth, who won $14,000, was hampered all week by a sprained wrist and torn thumb, which bled throughout the TV finals.
