Brunswick World Open

$100,000 BRUNSWICK WORLD OPEN
Brunswick Northern Bowl, Glendale Heights, III., Nov 14-20, 1976

Gary Tops The World

Gary Dickinson won his fifth career title and the biggest paycheck of his life, $14,000, when he downed Ernie Schlegel, 247-176, in the title game of the $100,000 Brunswick World Open.

Sixth when the 32-game qualifying phase ended, the 6-4 right-hander zoomed into first place to stay after the very first game of match play, doing it on the strength of a 300 game, one of four tossed during this sixth annual competition. After winning his first eight matches, Dickinson breezed the rest of the way.

Fifteen foreign bowlers made it a true "world open," and three of them, all Japanese, earned money, the most foreigners ever to cash in the tourney.
