Midas Open

$100,000 MIDAS OPEN
Bradley Bowl, Windsor Locks, Conn., Feb 24-28, 1976

Earl Has Midas Touch

Earl Anthony won the $100,000 Midas Open for his first title of 1976 and ran his winnings for the year to $37,400, virtually the same pace as his record breaking one of 1975.

Anthony gave a packed Bradley Bowl and a national television audience an added thrill as he drilled home six opening strikes in the title game with Johnny Petraglia, in an effort to win a $200,000 bonus offered by Midas-International for a 300 game during the championship match.

Score of the title game was 236-214 as Anthony racked up the 21st triumph of his career. He dominated the tournament practically from start to finish, assuming the lead early during the 18-game qualifying, and holding it to the end.
