King Louie Open

$70,000 KING LOUIE OPEN
King Louie West, Overland Park, Kan., Jan 27-31, 1976

George Reigns Again

George Pappas won the King Louie Open for the second time in the last three years, trampling four opponents enroute.

Pappas upset top-seeded Earl Anthony, Tacoma, Wash., 223-219, in the title game of the $70,000 event to gain his fourth Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) title and repeat as champion of the tournament he won here in 1974.

Anthony had earned the top spot in the finals with a sizzling 222 average during qualifying and match game play. But the title match was a struggle for both Pappas and Anthony. Pappas suffered splits in the second and sixth frames, while Anthony couldn't get a strike until the sixth frame.
