Johnny Guenther, Seattle, Wash., opened the Professional Bowlers Association 1976 season in auspicious fashion by winning the $75,000 Ford Open. Guenther bowled over three opponents in the nationally televised (ABC) finals as he rang up his 11th career victory in his 16 years on the tour. His victim in the 227-199 championship game was top-seeded Jimmy Certain, Huntsville, Ala., who rejoined the tour last fall after an absence of five years and who has been bowling well ever since.
