HAWAIIAN INVITATIONAL
Various Canters, Hawaii, Dec 3-11, 1975
Holman's Tidal Wave
Marshall Holman, swept through four opponents in the televised finals of the Hawaiian Invitational to win his second title of the year . . . and career. Carmen Salvino, Chicago, Ill., was Holman's victim in the championship match, falling, 203-208. It was the second time in 1975 that Holman defeated Salvino, the other time being at Fresno, Cal., in the summer when the 21-year-old won his first PBA title. During most of the tournament, contested solely on match game play, Holman languished near the bottom of the 12-man field, which included representatives from Japan, Hawaii and Australia. Holman suddenly came to life on the final day of match game qualifying. He won 10 games and moved from 11th to fifth place, the last spot for the televised finals field. TELEVISED FINALS
