Earl Anthony, Tacoma, Wash., won his fourth Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) title of the year, waltzing to victory in the $50,000 Quad-Cities Open at Suburban Lanes. Anthony's win was measured by 412 pins at the finish, and as runnerup Nelson Burton Jr., St. Louis, Mo., put it after it was over, "We almost conceded it to him early, and we were just shooting for second place." Anthony confirmed that he was as good as the final scores indicated. "I only missed the pocket three times all night." That was shortly after he had lost a 247 game, then racked up games of 248-257-239 and 290, before losing a meaningless position round game to Burton, 223-209. Anthony qualified for the match game rounds in fifth place as Les Zikes, Palatine, Ill., averaged nearly 226 to lead the 18-game qualifying. 42-GAME TOTALS | | | Name, City/State | | Pins | | WLT | | + | | Tot | | Amt | | | 1 | | Earl Anthony, Tacoma, Wash. | | 9517 | | 17-7-0 | | 510 | | 10027 | | $5,000 | | 2 | | Nelson Burton Jr., St. Louis, Mo. | | 9150 | | 15-8-1 | | 465 | | 9615 | | 3,000 | | 3 | | Tommy Hudson, Akron, Ohio | | 9101 | | 14-10-0 | | 420 | | 9521 | | 2,500 | | 4 | | Curt Schmidt, Ft.
