Nelson Burton Jr., St. Louis, Mo., again found Bradley Bowl in Windsor Locks, Conn., to his liking, and won the $100,000 Midas Open. Burton defeated 20-year-old Ed Ressler, Allentown, Pa., in the championship game to make it two ProfessionalBowlers Association (PBA) victories in as many visits, having won at Bradley the previous August. The victory, number 12 in Burton's career, was his richest ever, $14,000. For all intents and purposes, Burton actually won the Midas Open during the last three games of match play on Friday night, nailing down top-seeded with scores of 245-259-242.
