Earl Anthony captured his third PBA title by defeating Nelson Burton Jr., 259-215, in the finals of the $47,500 Home Box Office Open. Anthony, who was top-seeded into the championship game, opened with four strikes, closed with five more, and never gave Burton a chance as he pocketed a check for $5 000. The tournament, held at Saratoga Lanes, was enlivened by perfect games by Carmen Salvino, Butch Soper, Ken Doran and Greg Baderdeen.
