After years of coming close, Gary Dickinson of Ft. Worth, Texas, finally hit the jackpot when he captured the $70,000 Don Carter Classic in Arcadia, Calif. Victory was sweet for the lanky righthander, who had been a runnerup five previous times in his career, including a second place windup two years before when the Carter event was played in New Orleans. Dickinson's victim in the final game was hometowner Barry Asher, who had many in the crowd rooting for him.
