Miller High Life Open

$70,000 MILLER HIGH LIFE OPEN
Red Carpet Lanes, Milwaukee, Wis., Feb 23-27, 1971

Soutar Dons Another Crown

Dave Soutar swept to victory in the Miller High Life Open, and the man he defeated was another tried and true veteran of the PBA wars-Don Johnson. The tally of the final match at Red Carpet-Toga Lanes was 209-161, and the loser never had a chance. Johnson suffered splits in the first and fourth frames, while Soutar, winning his second crown of the year, was perfect throughout.

The Miller, which returned Soutar $10,000 saw no few oddities in the earlier going. There was a 245 triplicate by Jack Biondolillo and a 257-257 tie between Norm Meyers and Craig Mueller, to name but two. The event also saw Johnny Petraglia continue his hot streak, as once again he made the TV show. John trimmed Bill Beach, then took a two-pin decision from Joe Joseph. Johnson stepped in and drubbed Petraglia and then Don took a oasting from Soutar.
