Soutar Takes Showboat

Dave Soutar followed up his 300 game of one week before with a stunning come-from-behind victory in the lucrative Showboat Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev. The veteran performer, fifth after 40 games of qualifying, ran through four straight foes, the last of whom was talented lefthander Don Glover, the 40-game leader, 256-214. Bowing to Dave en route were Dick Ritger, 215-207; Johnny Guenther, 215-193, and Johnny Petraglia, 247-221.

The triumph was "Soupy's" sixth in a long career and perhaps his most gratifying, first for having come from the last spot on TV, second because he rang up his win in an event that had been dominated by lefthanders through the years. Dave's conquest was worth $11,111.11 out of an imaginative prize fund that totaled $77,777.77.
