Don Johnson of Kokomo, Ind. was trailing Akron, Ohio's Allie Clarke by 29 pins going into the position round championship game but Johnson won a close one, 229-226, to record his second victory of the year. Johnson previously had won at Seattle, Wash. early in the summer, and oddly enough, Clarke won at Portland, Ore. the week following, and he was bidding for his second career title at Lincoln. The Lincoln Chamber of Commerce Sports Committee co-sponsored the tournament at Hollywood Bowl. It was the PBA's first visit to the Nebraska capital. 40-GAME FINALS | | | Name, City/State | | Pins | | WLT | | + | | Tot | | Amt | | | 1 | | Don Johnson, Kokomo, Ind. | | 8789 | | 9-7-0 | | 450 | | 9239 | | $3,000 | | 2 | | Allie Clarke, Akron, O. | | 8689 | | 10-5-1 | | 525 | | 9214 | | 1,600 | | 3 | | Jim Frazier, Spokane, Wash. | | 8649 | | 11-5-0 | | 550 | | 9199 | | 1,400 | | 4 | | Bud Horn, Los Angeles, Calif. | | 8603 | | 10-5-1 | | 525 | | 9128 | | 1,200 | | 5 | | Sam Baca, Hayward, Calif. | | 8637 | | 9-6-1 | | 475 | | 9112 | | 1,100 | | 6 | | Johnny Guenther, Seattle, Wash. | | 8542 | | 10-6-0 | | 500 | | 9042 | | 1,050 | | 7 | | Tim Brosnan, Ft.
