Bowling's winningest professional, DICK WEBER, added No. 19 to his total in the Altoona Open. Weber gained his second victory of the 1969 campaign by defeating young Bobby Knipple, 203-170, in the final match of the tourney. Weber almost was forced out of action before the tourney got under way by a stiff neck, but it "worked itself out" as he went to work. He held a 44-pin lead over Knipple going into the position round and needed a victory to keep the youthful Californian from gaining his first tournament title. 40-GAME FINALS | | | Name, City/State | | Pins | | WLT | | + | | Tot | | Amt | | | 1 | | Dick Weber, St. Louis, Mo. | | 8446 | | 11-5-0 | | 550 | | 8996 | | $3,000 | | 2 | | Bobby Knipple, Long Beach, Calif. | | 8294 | | 11-4-1 | | 575 | | 8869 | | 1,600 | | 3 | | Dave Soutar, Gilroy, Calif. | | 8385 | | 8-8-0 | | 400 | | 8785 | | 1,400 | | 4 | | Don Johnson, Kokomo, Ind. | | 8221 | | 11-5-0 | | 550 | | 8771 | | 1,200 | | 5 | | Johnny Guenther, Fresno, Calif. | | 8227 | | 9-7-0 | | 450 | | 8677 | | 1,100 | | 6 | | Dale Seavoy, Biringham, Mich. | | 8253 | | 8-8-0 | | 400 | | 8653 | | 1,050 | | 7 | | Jimmy Certain, Huntsville, Ala. | | 8152 | | 9-6-1 | | 475 | | 8627 | | 1,000 | | 8 | | Tim Harahan, Canoga Park, Calif. | | 8104 | | 8-7-1 | | 425 | | 8529 | | 950 | | 9 | | Don Russell, San Diego, Calif. | | 8090 | | 8-8-0 | | 400 | | 8490 | | 900 | | 10 | | Glenn Allison, Los Angeles, Calif. | | 7971 | | 10-6-0 | | 500 | | 8471 | | 850 | | 11 | | Terry Booth, Mountain View, Calif. | | 8146 | | 6-10-0 | | 300 | | 8446 | | 800 | | 12 | | Dick Ritger, Hartford, Wise. | | 8135 | | 4-11-1 | | 225 | | 8360 | | 750 | | 13 | | Sam Baca, Hayward, Calif. | | 8001 | | 6-10-0 | | 300 | | 8301 | | 700 | | 14 | | Paul Zevgolis, Hopewell, Va. | | 7985 | | 6-10-0 | | 300 | | 8285 | | 650 | | 15 | | Larry Lichstein.
