Hardwick Ties Win Record

BILLY HARDWICK was not to be denied as he set sights on his sixth tournament victory of the season in the PBA Open at Grand Rapids, Mich. He led the qualifiers with a total of 5382 pins and then posted a 12-3-1 match game record to register a 363-pin margin over second-place finisher Dick Ritger.

Hardwick joined Jim Stefanich and Dave Davis as a winner of six tournaments in a single year, Stefanich turning the trick a year ago and Davis in 1967. It also was Hardwick's 15th victory in his professional bowing career.
