Piraino Pulls One Out

Marty Piraino, rolling in only his fourth PBA tournament of the '69 season, hit the jackpot in the Houston Sertoma Open. In gaining his title, Piraino had to withstand the challenge of Billy Hardwick, who was gunning for his sixth win of the season and 15th of his career.

Piraino had only a 36-pin lead going into the final game against Hardwick. He came through with a 195-189 edge and the championship. Piraino totaled 9026 and had a match game record of 12-3-1 enroute to his title.
