Splits played a menacing role in the Portsmouth Open as TOMMY TUTTLE came through with a victory, 202-193, over Don McCune in the title game. Jim St. John eliminated Teata Semiz in the second game of the finals when Semiz was unable to recover from three splits. Then St. John registered three splits in losing to Tuttle. In the championship finale, McCune split in the fourth, fifth and eighth frames while Tuttle doubled in the fifth and sixth and struck out for the victory.
