When Joe Joseph of Lansing left the 6-10 pins standing on his last ball of the tournament, the 200-199 victory went to Seattle's Johnny Guenther who won $10,000 for first place in the $60,000 Miller High Life Open in Milwaukee.

Guenther had won 13 of his 16 games of match play to be seeded No. 1 and Joseph had moved up from fourth place to challenge him for the title.
