George Howard, the 108-pound Kalamazoo, Mich., wizard, won his fifth PBA championship with a 149-pin victory in the $30,500 Camden Open.
At the end of the 24 qualifying games Howard was running second to Bobby Knipple. But in the 16-game finals the little guy won 12 matches for a 40-game total of 9,308 308. Jimmy Certain finished second with 9,169.
Bud Horn and Gene Rhoda each hit 300 games to highlight qualifying play.
