Gearhart Back On Top

Left-hander Butch Gearhart, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. demonstrated his victory two weeks before was no fluke by running away from the field in the Oklahoma City Open.

The lanky lefty took the lead in the opening round and never was headed as he posted a 255-pin win despite a position round loss to runnerup Jim Chestney.

Dave Davis returned to the tournament wars and finished 18th to cash a $410 check. This raised the leading money winner's earnings to $30,105. Les Schissler was second with $30,105 and Jim Stefanich third at $29,825.
