Gearhart Charges At Houston J
Butch Gearhart, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., won 14 of his 16 matches in grabbing his first PBA tournament ever, the $27,500 Houston Sertoma Open. The lanky lefty went into the final day trailing 24-game qualifying leader Bill Allen. But after knocking off Allen in the opening game, Gearhart was off to the races. Gearhart's margin of victory was 511 pins over second place Allen. This was one of the largest differences in the history of the PBA and qualified Gearhart for the 1968 Firestone $100,000 Tournament of Champions. 40 GAMES
