Davis Back On Top
Dave Davis, of Phoenix, Ariz., ran off with his third PBA title of the year and fifth overall when he outdistanced the field in the $60,000 Miller High Life Open.
Although the lean lefty wasn't at his best in the championship game, he beat Bobby Knipple, 192-186. Davis was the 40-game qualifying leader which enabled him to win one game in the televised finals for the $10,000 first place check.
Being seeded No. 1, Davis watched as Bill Tucker defeated Bud Horn, 192-178; Knipple raped Tucker, 225-157, and Dick Weber, 205-185, to set up the championship game. Davis spared in the tenth frame to win it all.
