Lefty Dave Davis, of Phoenix, Ariz., withstood a closing rush by Ted Hoffman of Philadelphia to capture the $10,000 first prize in the $50,000 Las Vegas Open.
Hoffman qualified in the No. b spot and then proceeded to eliminate Steve Buell, 214-169; Tommy Tuttle, 223-188, and Skee Foremsky, the defending champion, 226-215.
But in the title go Davis, who had led the 40-game qualifier and was seeded No. 1, reeled off a 227-207 victory to capture his second PBA tournament.
