John Juni, of Hollywood, Fla., was the wire-to-wire winner of the opening tournament on the 1967 Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) tour when he captured the Tucson Open. The 31-year-old righthander led the 40-game qualifier and then defeated Tommy Tuttle of King, N.C., 179-171, in the televised finals to pocket the $5,000 first place check. Juni was seeded into the final game and watched while Tuttle disposed of Harry Smith of Fresno, Calif., and Don Glover of Bakersfield, Calif. Earlier Smith eliminated Dick Weber of St. Louis.
