Stefanich Makes Grade

Jim Stefanich had been knocking on the door all year but he never made "Champion's Row" until the last tournament on the 1966 PBA tour.

The bulky Chicago native won the $34,000 Baltimore Open by 163 pins over runner-up Dave Soutar. Billy Hardwick, making an end-of-the-year charge after a slow start, finished third.

Stefanich's $3,000 first-place check raised his earnings for the year to $14,360.
