Five perfect games and a new world's record was the story as Bud Horn captured his first tournament title in the $27,500 Labor Day Classic at Hart Bowl in Dallas.
Jim Dunston set the world's mark for a six-game tournament block when he hit 1541 on games of 269-268-203-266-257-278. This bettered the old record of 1532 set by Gene Rhoda at Columbus, Ohio, in 1964.
Dave Soutar fashioned two of the 300s. Don Carter, Lewis Ray and Darylee Cox contributed to the "300 pot."
