Two Straight Wins For Ritger

Dick Ritger became one of the few back-to-back winners in the history of the PBA when he duplicated his Ft. Worth victory in the $27,500 Reading, Pa., Open.

Unlike his previous 200-pin-plus win, Ritger's latest was a hand-wringer. The Hartford, Wisc., pro copped the last game, 177-174, over Jim Stefanich to total 9180 for the 40 games. This was 73 pins better than that posted by Nelson Burton Jr. Burton lost a 224-254 decision in the last game to Billy Golembiewski, otherwise the St. Louis pro would have walked off with the $3,000 first place check.

Weber still held the money winning lead with earnings of $45,460 while Wayne Zahn had $39,850.
