Schissler Is Three-Time Champ
Les Schissler bathed in the February sunshine and the sweet drugs of victory by winning the $35,000 Hialeah-Miami Open. It was his third PBA tournament conquest. Schissler was the go-guy all the way, having led the 40-game qualifier by 233 pins over second place Ed Bourdase. The newest champ on the PBA circuit counted 9120 after adding 525 bonus pins for winning ten, losing five and tying one in the match-play semis. In the televised finals, Bob Strampe, Bud Horn and Bourdase took turns beating each other before Horn emerged as the total pin leader. But Horn fell four pins short, 196-192, in the last match and Schissler was THE man. CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND
