$23,500 SALT LAKE CITY PBA OPEN
Ritz Classic Bowl, Salt Lake City, Utah, Jul 8-11, 1965

Davis Wire-To-Wire Winner

The PBA Salt Lake City Open was no contest as Lefthander Dave Davis shot 257 in his opening game and then, more or less, lapped the field in racking up a 298-pin victory.

Over the 40-game route, Davis shot only three games under 200 in amassing a 9399 total. This included 600 bonus pins he received for winning 12 of 16 matches in the finals.

This was Dave's first major tournament trophy. His best previous finish in a PBA event was a second at Seattle in 1964.

Bud Horn was second with 9101 and Jerry McCoy finished in the No. 3 slot with 8978.
