Smith Measures Tucson Field

Harry Smith won his second PBA tournament of the year and ninth overall when he bested the 96-man field in the Tucson Open.

It was the closest finish in the history of the PBA. .Smith's margin was 26 pins over second-place Dave Soutar and only 137 pins separated seventh-place Earl Johnson from the winner.

Going into the final game five men had a shot at the trophy. Smith put it out of reach from the rest with a 208-182 win over Jim St. John who slipped from second to fifth in that last game.
