"Smitty" Too Much In Caracas
The Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) took its tournament show out of the country as 16 men invaded Caracas, Venezuela, for a 48-game match play test.
Harry Smith was the big man in this one as-he captured the $2,000 first prize by 333 pins. Smith broke out in front at the opening gun and was a wire-to-wire winner.
The boys were slightly jolted when radicals machine-gunned the U.S. Embassy two blocks from the bowling lanes. But "Smitty" was the proverbial cucumber as he racked up his eighth PBA championship.
