It's Allen Again At Hartford
The names were the same, only the scores were different as Bill Allen repulsed Nelson Burton Jr., 231-177, for the second straight week to win the Insurance City Classic in Hartford.
In taking his ninth PBA championship, the blond lefthander had to survive an opening game defeat in the televised finals.. He came back strong to whip Gary Martineau, 241-168, and get a shot at Burton.
Burton closed out a fabulous Winter Tour when he made the television finals for the sixth time in the ten tourneys he entered. The 22-year-old pro was second four times and had third and fourth-place finishes.
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: Allen earned right to meet Burton on total pins and then defeated him 231-177. ROUND ROBIN: Biondolillo defeated Allen 216-203; Allen defeated Martineau 241-168; Martineau defeated Biondolillo 218-192. 24 GAMES
