Fazio Flags Hale In Norcal
Ageless Buzz Fazio opened the fresh year by winning the Northern California Open at Sacramento in one of the most thrilling finals in the history of the PBA.
At the end of the second game of the finals, the b7-year-old "Buzzer" was tied with Jerry Hale. In the two-frame rolloff, Fazio spared, threw two strikes and added eight pins. Hale spared and then got eight pins. Fazio wrapped up the title when he bested Jack Biondolillo, 216-214.
It was Fazio's second PBA tournament championship. Buzz collected his first at Princeton, N.J. in 1964.
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: Fazio defeated Biondolillo, 216-214. ROUND ROBIN: Bluth defeated Hale, 238-168; Fazio defeated Hale in rolloff; Fazio defeated Bluth, 236-224. 24 GAMES
