The "Tiger" from Baltimore, Harry Smith, was back in the race for leading money-winner honors after capturing the $4,000 first spot in the Professional Bowlers Association $30,000 Las Vegas Open. Smith's victory came rather easily, his winning total of 9017 was 139 pins better than second-place Norm Meyers could garner. But, after leading the 24game qualifier, Hurrying Harry had some anxious moments when he slipped to fifth during the 16-game finals. A 268 game pulled him back into the lead and he coasted from there.
