Allison Buries Tucson Foes
Glenn Allison, the pigeon-toed pro from Los Angeles, knocked off his fourth Professional Bowlers Association title in three years when he won the $21,500 Tucson Open.
The issue never was in doubt from the 19th game of the qualifier when Glenn took over the lead. He paced the 24-game qualifier with 5233, 109 pins better than second place Gene Rhoda, and padded his lead to 210 pins during the 16-game finals. His total count, including 500 bonus pins, was 9269.
Bill Bunetta flavored the tournament when he shot the fourth 300 game of his career in the finals.
Allen was still in the driver's seat in the money race with earnings of $27,028. Second place Billy Hardwick added $1,100 to his bank book with a fourth-place finish to run his loot to $25,455.
